Freshman Admission
Candidates for admission should complete a four-year course of study in a regionally accredited secondary school. This program should include 16 units of college preparatory courses distributed among the areas of English, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, and foreign languages. This academic information, in addition to a personal interview and guidance counselor/teacher recommendation, form the basis of the Admissions Committee review. Special considerations are possible for applicants whose academic backgrounds vary from the recommended requirements yet exhibit strong potential. Applicants are required to submit scores of the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT) and/or scores from the American College Testing Program (ACT).
Application Procedure:
- Complete and submit your online application. Sign and send the application agreement statement that appears after you submit the completed online application, along with a nonrefundable $50 fee.
- Request an official high school transcript or official GED to be sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
- Submit your SAT or ACT scores.
- A letter of recommendation, a personal statement (or essay), and an interview are not required but highly recommended. You can schedule an interview by calling the admissions office at (860) 231-5216.
- Arrange for a personal interview on campus by calling the admissions office at (860) 231-5216, or (800) 285-6565. The interview is not required but is highly recommended.
Notification:
Once you have completed the application process, you will be notified of the admissions decision on a rolling basis. You will learn of the committee's decision by a letter from the Director of Admissions. To indicate acceptance of the offer of admission, you must complete the appropriate form and submit a nonrefundable deposit of $250. This deposit will be credited towards the first semester bill.
Weekend College Admission
Candidates for admission to the coeducational weekend college program are encouraged to apply by June 1 for fall semester and December 1 for spring semester.
Transfer Admission
Saint Joseph College welcomes qualified students from other colleges during both the fall and spring semesters. Financial aid and registration procedures make it highly desirable that transfer applicants for the spring semester apply by December 1 and for fall semester by July 1. Our transfer counselor will assist you throughout the procedure and will gladly answer any questions you may have.
Application Procedures for Transfer and Prime-Time/Weekend College Program Admission:

- Submit your SAT scores, if available (not required).
- Submit official transcript(s) from college(s) previously attended, including evidence of degrees earned and/or status at point of separation.
- Arrange for a personal interview on campus by calling the admissions office at (860) 231-5216. The interview is highly recommended. The applicant is requested to have his/her records sent to the admissions office prior to the interview or to bring them with him/her to the appointment.
Notification:
Once you have completed the application process, you will be notified of the admissions decision on a rolling basis. As soon as your credentials are complete, they are reviewed by the Admissions Committee and you are informed of the decision. Your acceptance is contingent upon the successful completion of your current work. Following acceptance, the registrar will determine transfer credits. To indicate acceptance of the offer of admission, the applicant must complete the appropriate form and submit a nonrefundable deposit of $250. This deposit will be credited towards the first semester bill.
