1) Directed Studies: selective freshman humanities program studying Western cultural tradition through 3 yearlong interrelated seminar courses in literature, philosophy, and political thought. 2) Perspectives on Science: selective freshman course consisting of lectures and discussions that reveal the scope/interconnectedness of many scientific disciplines. Each lecture introduces a key scientific question that students from many disciplines can evaluate critically.
